Change HEIC to JPG in three steps, in any browser.
Drop HEIC or HEIF files on the box, or pick them from Files or Photos. Each photo appears as a card with a preview.
JPG is small and opens anywhere; HEIC to PNG keeps every pixel. Set the quality and which photo details to keep.
Press Convert, then Download. Several photos arrive in one ZIP file, and on an iPhone you can save them to Photos.
Since iOS 11 the iPhone camera saves photos as HEIC whenever Settings, Camera, Formats is on High Efficiency, which is the default. HEIC is a HEIF picture compressed with HEVC, the method used for 4K video, so a photo takes about half the space of the same shot as a JPG.
The catch is that plenty of places still cannot open it. Windows needs extra extensions from the Microsoft Store, older Android phones and photo printers show nothing, and many upload forms for jobs, schools and shops accept only JPG or PNG.
Converting makes a copy that works everywhere, while your HEIC originals stay untouched. To have the camera take JPG from now on, choose Most Compatible instead of High Efficiency in the same menu; photos already taken stay HEIC.
JPG compresses less cleverly than HEIC, so it needs more bytes for the same detail. At the default quality of 90 the JPG came out about as large as the HEIC in our tests on iPhone photos, and side by side the two are hard to tell apart.
iPhones shoot in Display P3, a wider colour range than the sRGB most images use. Each JPG carries that colour profile, so reds, greens and skies look the same as in the original instead of slightly flat or washed out.
For no loss at all, choose PNG. It stores every pixel exactly, but a photo becomes five to seven times larger than its HEIC. Use JPG for sharing, email and upload forms, and PNG when you plan to edit the picture further.
Add a whole iPhone export at once. Photos convert in a batch and download together as one ZIP file.
Choose PNG for a lossless copy to edit in Photoshop, Canva or Figma. Every pixel of the photo stays.
Date taken, camera model and lens settings stay in each file, so albums sort in the right order.
The GPS position is taken out by default, so a photo is safe to share. Pick Keep all to keep it.
Quality 90 by default, plus the iPhone's own Display P3 colours, so skies and skin tones look right.
Works in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on Windows or a Chromebook. No HEIF extension or app to install.

HEIC stands for High Efficiency Image Container. It is the photo format iPhones use by default, about half the size of a JPG.
Macs and iPhones open it in Photos. Windows needs the HEIF and HEVC extensions, or convert it to JPG here and open it anywhere.
Open the photo in Preview and choose File, Export, then JPEG, one photo at a time. For many photos at once, add them all here.

Open this page in Chrome, tap the box and pick the HEIC files from Files or Downloads. The JPGs save to your Downloads folder.
Very little. JPG is lossy, but at quality 90 the change is too small to see. Pick PNG if you need a copy with no loss at all.
